Filter Tour de Tallinn 2026

RACE GUIDE

1. Event format and introduction

  • Filter Tour de Tallinn is an inline skating and road cycling day in Tallinn, where participants can choose between a timed race or skating in untimed theme groups.
  • 200 fastest to register can participate. The day consists of the inline marathon and skate chill at T1 shopping centre car park.
  • The competition centre is at T1 shopping centre and car park. The event consists of parade skating to the venue, racing on the Tondiraba cycle path ring, and impressive skating back to the competition centre. Untimed mood-group skaters skate together along the city's cycle paths.

2. Distances

2.1.

200 fastest registrants get a start; participants can choose between a timed race or untimed theme groups:

A) Timed distance:

  • Marathon 41.4 km (5 km parade skating to the course, 41.4 km marathon and 5 km skating back to the competition centre)
  • Rahvarull 10.8 km (5 km parade to the course, 10 km race + 5 km skating back to the competition centre)

PS! If the competitor feels that 5 km to the course and 5 km back makes the day too long, they may travel from T1 to Tondiraba by their own transport and take part only in the race part.

B) Untimed distances:

  • Group skating on Tallinn cycle paths approx. 20 km. This group does not race but enjoys skating and exercising together led by the group leader. They take part in the parade to the course, watch the race and skate a lap of Tallinn's cycle paths. No timing, no results, all participants are winners!

3. Skate chill at T1 car park

In the evening at 19:00–19:30, before the competitors' award ceremony, the skate chill takes place in the T1 shopping centre car park. It is not a race but a rare opportunity to skate in the car park and on its different levels to great music. It is more of an inline skating party and a great opportunity for sporting togetherness. No separate registration for the skate chill; all participants in the day's distances are automatically expected to take part.

8. RACE NUMBERS, START GROUPS

8.1. On timed distances classic race numbers and timing chips attached around the right leg are used. Untimed participants use emblem numbers indicating the theme group in which the skater participates. Chips are not used on untimed distances.

8.2. The timing chip is issued to the competitor against a 50€ deposit and must be returned immediately after finishing to the drink station. To avoid losses arising from transfer fees, the deposit must be paid in cash.

8.3. Race numbers must be attached so that one number is on the left thigh and the other on the back at the left shoulder, turned so that it is in a horizontal position when viewed from the side. Result in the final protocol is not guaranteed for competitors who remain unidentified due to incorrect number placement.

8.4. Each distance has one start group - competitors on the same distance are not further divided into start groups.

8.5. Entry to start corridors is only through the start corridor gate; entry to the rear corridor is also allowed from behind the start group. Lifting the skate over the barrier to get in front of competitors already in the group or ducking under the tape in front of the group is forbidden. The jury has the right to discipline a competitor who disregards the order of entering the group with either a time penalty or disqualification.

9. CEREMONIAL PARADE START AND SKATING BACK TO FINISH

9.1. The Filter Tour de Tallinn skating day consists of three parts: ceremonial parade through the city, race, skate back.

Ceremonial parade: from T1 centre until reaching the race course, skating is at a relaxed pace with moto security escort. Overtaking officials is forbidden; this is not a race but a ceremonial parade to the course. The parade skate is a great joint event, not an obligation for getting a race result. If due to youth or more modest physical preparation the competitor does not wish to take part, they may also travel to the technical start by their own transport – this does not affect the race result.

Race: the event on the course follows the principle of an inline skating marathon. Race participants ride to win, mood group participants according to the chosen group theme and pace.

Skate back: at 17:30 and 18:30 a security moto leaves from Tondiraba to escort competitors back to the T1 competition centre. If desired, it is also permitted to return separately by own transport or on foot, bearing in mind that in that case normal traffic rules must be followed.

10. PARTICIPANT FEEDING, MOBILE BAG DROP AND WASTE MANAGEMENT

10.1. As the competition centre and race course are in different places, a mobile bag drop is organised. Competitors can give change of clothes or other necessary items to the bag bus at T1 centre, which takes them to Tondiraba. It is also possible to send bags by bus from Tondiraba to T1 centre.

10.2. There is no organised feeding for competitors, but T1 shopping centre catering at the competition centre offers participants body fuel, thirst quencher and the opportunity to impress after the event. At the finish at Tondiraba there is a drink station, which also serves as the competitors' race-time drink station.

10.3. Littering on the course is strictly forbidden - a competitor who litters will be disqualified.

10.4. In the event centre there are accordingly marked waste bins for waste sorting, located both at the competition centre and at the technical start and finish at Tondiraba.

11. MEDICAL AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND SAFETY

11.1. First medical aid is provided by the medics servicing the race. The ambulance brigade moves behind the parade to the Tondiraba race ring and drives out onto the course if needed.

11.2. The organisers do not guarantee spare parts in case of skate breakage nor compensate for damage. However, transport back to the start is guaranteed for those who drop out at the end of race day by the organiser's vehicle.

11.3. Participation is at one's own responsibility. By taking the start the competitor confirms that they are familiar with the race guide and accept everything set out there, have a state of health suitable for competing and have made themselves aware of the risks associated with skating. In case of accident each competitor covers any damage themselves without making any damage claims to the organiser.

11.4. Wearing a helmet is mandatory without exception, including on untimed distances! Participation is not allowed without a helmet, a rider without a helmet will be disqualified! Wrist, knee and elbow guards are not mandatory.

11.5. Although the Tondiraba ring is closed to traffic, pedestrians from the vicinity may end up there. The organising team does its utmost to ensure safety, but skaters too are obliged to take care of their own safety and to follow the traffic law. Particular attention should be paid on the parade through the city, as the streets are not cleared of cars; participants' safety is ensured by mobile marshal brigades.

11.6. Pushing fellow competitors to gain an unfair advantage is forbidden. The jury has the right to punish with a time penalty or disqualification both the person who committed the unsporting act and the athlete who gained unfair advantage as a result. The application and extent of the penalty is decided on a case-by-case basis.

12. DETERMINATION OF RESULTS, LAP COUNTER AND RED FLAG

12.1. On timed distances the finish protocol is compiled on the basis of the finish line crossing times of competitors who completed the distance. Age class results are determined from the combined protocol by separating the athletes of the relevant age class. For untimed participants a participant protocol is compiled, but of course no ranking is determined.

12.3. Preliminary stage results are published as soon as possible after the race on the event's official website spordisarjad.ee. In respect of possible errors in the preliminary results, unsporting behaviour by fellow competitors or similar, participants have the right to submit clarifications and protests within 3 days following the race, sending them by e-mail to info@spordisarjad.ee Preliminary results are preliminary because they may be corrected according to observations by competitors or the jury. From the 4th day after the race the protocols become final – no further changes are made and protests are not satisfied, even if the protocol contains errors that went unnoticed before - final results are final!

12.4. LAP COUNTER – the lap counter shows the number of laps remaining to the finish according to the leader of the longest distance currently on the course. Competitors who have been lapped by the leader and competitors on shorter distances who are on the course in parallel must count their own laps remaining to the finish.

12.5. RED FLAG - if the officials show a red flag at the finish line, this means the end of the race and the obligation to leave the course at the first opportunity. As a rule the red flag is not used and lapped competitors can decide the final length of their race themselves according to the lap counter rule. However, if safety, the end of course use time or some other exceptional circumstance so requires, the officials have the right to remove lapped competitors from the course with the red flag. In that case competitors removed from the course by the red flag are not counted as having dropped out, but they receive their finish place according to the time of their last finish line crossing, taking into account the number of laps.

13. AWARDS

13.1. All participants are awarded a specially designed medal immediately after completing the finish line at Tondiraba.

13.2. The 3 fastest men and 3 fastest women in the marathon are awarded a trophy and a cash prize (1st 300€, 2nd 200€, 3rd 100€). The 3 fastest men and 3 fastest women in the Rahvarull are awarded a trophy and a prize in kind.

13.3. Each age class winner is awarded a trophy on the principle that the winner of M/N-U15 and younger is determined on the 10 km distance and the winner of older classes is determined on the Marathon distance.

14. OTHER INFORMATION

14.1. Filter Tour de Tallinn is a mass participation sporting event. All those who wish and whose state of health allows participation in mass participation events are expected at the start.

14.2. For the sake of fast and correct results, unauthorised crossing of the finish line is forbidden. After completing the race, on a second crossing of the finish line the jury has the right to discipline the competitor by entering the time of the last finish line crossing in the finish protocol.

14.3. Participants in the race must value clean and fair sport. Estonian anti-doping rules apply to the race and the Estonian Anti-Doping Agency has the right to carry out doping control among all participants. More detailed information is available at www.antidoping.ee/sportlasele/harrastajatele/

14.4. Force Majeure – in the event of disruptions caused by natural disasters, virus epidemics and other reasons beyond the organiser's control, changes may be made to the programme or the event may be cancelled. In the event of the event being cancelled due to Force Majeure, the start fee is not refunded but is carried forward to the next season.

14.5. On registration the competitor's e-mail address is entered in the AeroBike database and they will be sent a participant reminder before the race. It is not possible to opt out of the participant reminder letter. However, it is possible to remove oneself from the list of recipients of future newsletters if desired.

14.6. A participant in the race must bear in mind that they are taking part in a public event. The participant's name is entered in the start and finish protocol and they may also appear in the gallery made by the race photographer. The competitor cannot remove themselves from these public databases.

14.7. The jury decides all matters not defined in the guide and in the case of a consensus decision by the chief referee and chief organiser, the organisers have the right to supplement or change the race guide during the season.
